Why Frachta Invoices Use Credit Notes, Not Edits
Frachta never edits an issued invoice in place, keeping your numbering sequence and audit trail intact.
Frachta keeps every issued invoice exactly as it was created, so once an invoice goes out, it can never be edited in place. This protects your numbering sequence and keeps your audit trail honest, which matters the moment a tax inspector, a client's accountant, or your own bookkeeper needs to check your records.
To correct a mistake, start at /tms/invoices and locate the invoice that needs fixing. The right path forward depends entirely on whether that invoice has already reached the customer or not.
If the invoice has not been sent yet, you're free to simply delete it from /tms/invoices and issue a fresh one with the correct figures. Nothing about this leaves a gap or a duplicate in your numbering, because the invoice never truly left your hands.
Once an invoice has been sent, or has already been paid, deletion is off the table. At that point the only way to fix it is with a credit note, raised against the original from the same /tms/invoices screen. The credit note sits alongside the invoice it corrects, so anyone looking back through your records sees both documents and understands exactly what happened and why.
Working this way means your invoice numbers always run in an unbroken, continuous sequence, with nothing skipped, reused, or quietly rewritten after it was first issued.
It spares you the awkward conversation with a tax auditor about a missing or altered invoice number, and it spares your client the confusion of holding a copy that no longer matches what's in your system.
