EU 561 driving time and tachograph checks

See how much each driver may still drive today and this week, find infringements of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 before an inspection does, and plan routes that leave room for the breaks and rests the law requires.

  • Tachograph activity from Mapon
  • Remaining driving: day, week, fortnight
  • Infringements dated and graded
  • Breaks and rests in the route plan
  • Truck parkings on the route
  • Ferry rest and multi-manning rules

Tachograph activity, imported

With Mapon connected, driving, other work, availability and rest periods arrive from the tachograph every 15 minutes. Each driver's day, week and fortnight are added up from them.

Remaining driving time and infringements

The roster shows each driver's remaining daily, weekly and two-week driving time against the EU 561 limits. Past weeks are scanned for infringements — a missed break, a short rest, too much driving — each dated and graded by seriousness.

Routes planned around the rules

The route planner places breaks and daily rests where EU 561 needs them, aiming for a break around four hours of driving rather than at the last minute, and shows truck parkings along the way.

These checks are a planning aid built on what your telematics reports. The tachograph record itself is what counts at an inspection.

Questions

What does EU 561 limit?

Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 limits a driver to 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), 56 hours a week and 90 hours in two consecutive weeks. It requires a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving, a daily rest of 11 hours (or a reduced 9) and a weekly rest.

Do I need to download driver cards for these checks?

No. With Mapon connected, the tachograph activity comes in automatically. Frachta does not replace the legal download and archiving of tachograph files.

Are the results legally binding?

No. They are a planning and checking aid built on the activity your telematics reports; at an inspection, the tachograph record is what counts.

Does it handle ferries and team driving?

Yes. A ferry or train crossing that interrupts a rest is allowed for — crossings planned in Frachta are marked by themselves — and periods marked as a two-driver crew are checked under the multi-manning rest rule.
