Keep Statutory Maintenance From Stalling Dispatch

Service plans track each vehicle's intervals, including trailer kilometres pulled by the towing truck, so statutory checks don't quietly lapse.

The maintenance section of your fleet gives each vehicle its own service plan, built from set intervals, per-asset overrides, and any custom items you add for that truck or trailer. It is where you keep track of what needs attention and when, instead of relying on memory or scattered paperwork.

Open /fleet/maintenance and pick the vehicle you want to check. You'll see the intervals already running for that asset, and you can add an override if one particular truck needs a different schedule than the rest of the fleet. From there you can also add a custom item, for anything specific to that vehicle that isn't part of the standard plan.

Statutory items work differently from the rest. Once one of these lapses, the vehicle doesn't just get a warning, it gets blocked from dispatch until the item is resolved. That means a vehicle with an expired inspection or certificate can't be sent out by accident.

Trailers are covered too. A coupled trailer accrues kilometres from the truck that's pulling it, so its service plan keeps moving even though the trailer itself has no engine to log distance. This keeps the trailer's own intervals accurate no matter which truck has been hauling it.

The result is that you're not caught out sending a truck or trailer out with a statutory item that quietly expired weeks ago. The plan is already tracking it, the override already reflects that one awkward vehicle, and the kilometres on the trailer are already counted, so dispatch stays clean.
